Calling a method on a type that does not possess that method, or whose required trait is not in scope.
E0599 is raised when you call a method on a struct, but the struct doesn't define this method and no active trait in the current file scope implements it for this type.
Typos in method names, calling a method defined by an external trait without importing the trait first, or calling methods of fields inside a struct incorrectly.
1use std::fs::File;2 3fn main() {4 let mut file = File::open("log.txt").unwrap();5 // Bug: write_all belongs to std::io::Write trait, which is not in scope!6 file.write_all(b"Hello").unwrap(); // ERROR E0599: no method named 'write_all'7}1use std::fs::File;2use std::io::Write; // Fix: Import the Write trait to bring its methods into scope3 4fn main() {5 let mut file = File::create("log.txt").unwrap();6 file.write_all(b"Hello").unwrap(); // Safe!7}Simulate standard system builds to trigger compiler trace records and track memory crashes locally.
The File struct implements the Write trait, which provides write_all. However, to call write_all on a file object, the Write trait must be imported into the current scope via a 'use' statement.
